Pursuit upgrades CMJ collaboration to provide enhanced benefits for independent retailers

Leading EPoS software and solutions specialist Pursuit has deepened its long-standing collaboration with buying group the Company of Master Jewellers to offer its retailer members access to an integrated or standalone chip-and-pin card payment service, whichwill see a portion of all transaction fees returned to the group on an annual basis.

Company of Master Jewellers members can benefit from a new addition to the Pursuit portfolio – PursuitPay – a card payment solution that delivers a seamless checkout service with competitive rates. Underpinned by ClearAccept, a sister company of Pursuit under the ClearCourse umbrella, the PursuitPay chip-and-pin system can be neatly integrated with Pursuit EPoS software or used as a standalone solution without needing to switch systems or providers.

With PursuitPay, retailers can take payments securely and simply from countertop and portable devices (also provided by Pursuit) without incurring the high fees demanded by other merchant service providers.

“We are working in harmony to strengthen the relationship between Pursuit, our parent company ClearCourse and the Company of Master Jewellers,” explained Pursuit director Mike Burns. “This new agreement will give CMJ retailers access to a standalone payment solution or an integrated option through PursuitPay, which ‘speaks’ directly to existing Pursuit software, and will offer broader discounts for new clients onboarding to a Pursuit Jewellery Management System to the first time.”

To highlight its commitment to the deal, Pursuit will channel a percentage of all card transaction revenue from Company of Master Jewellers member businesses back into the group on an annual basis. Therefore, every transaction made by CMJ retailers with PursuitPay will benefit the group, allowing small and larger businesses to share in a portion of this revenue via annual dividend payments.

Burns added: “Quite simply, the more CMJ members who utilise PursuitPay, the more financial benefits all will receive throughout the calendar year. This is a stream of recurring revenue that allows many different types of businesses, from single store entities to multi-store portfolios, to benefit for the good of everyone.”

The agreement reached with the Company of Master Jewellers will also provide retailers with exclusive access to Pursuit’s feature-rich EPoS and stock control Jewellery Management System on a discounted basis. Independents can also choose a fully integrated website depending upon their requirements.

Orders placed before the end of 2023 include PursuitPay, a stock control software licence, an EPoS software licence, full data transfer, project management tools, access to the Pursuit server, barcode printers, receipt prints and a monthly support package for £300 PCM, which reduces to £188 PCM after six months. Existing Pursuit customers can add PursuitPay as part of the deal, benefiting from no card refund charges, no PCI charges, no device charges and no admin charges. Members using other platforms who wish to add PursuitPay as a standalone service can secure similar discounts, although a hardware fee will apply. Interested business owners can speak to Pursuit for a no-commitment quote on the rates they will receive using PursuitPay in comparison to their existing providers.

When viewed as a complete package, Company of Master Jewellers retailers can expect reduced system implementation costs, smooth chip-and-pin payments, competitive rates and fees, and recurring group-wide revenue for the benefit of all members.

Managing director of the Company of Master Jewellers, Emmet Cummins, said: “The Company of Master Jewellers is focused on enhancing the service and support retail businesses need to effectively compete in today’s market. To achieve this, we only look for partnerships with businesses that have a collaborative and proactive mindset. The partnership we have with Pursuit is precisely that.

“It is very clear to us that Pursuit is focused on the continuous development of its solution, tailoring it to the needs of the independent retailer in this industry sector. And I am extremely pleased that testament to the strength of our partnership, the CMJ and Pursuit have worked collaboratively to produce for the first time, a solution offering that is exclusive to our members – a package that we truly believe will make a difference to the successful operations of our members’ businesses.”
