Jack Murphy from Jack Murphy Jewellers in Newry will walk 100km in Camino de Santiago in aid of Children in Crossfire, with his daughter Tina. Beginning on Tuesday 19 September, over 5 days, Tina and Jack will trek from Santiago to Finisterre in Spain.
Children in Crossfire works in partnership with local organisations in Tanzania and Ethiopia to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged young children, with a particular focus on early childhood education (ECE). In Ireland, the charity works in schools and with the general public to raise awareness of global justice issues and advocate for increased investment in ECE. Children in Crossfire has had a long relationship with Jack Murphy Jewellers through the heart-warming 20-year friendship shared between football fanatics Jack and charity founder Richard Moore.
Founded by Richard in 1996, Children in Crossfire responds to the rights and needs of children and young people caught in the crossfire of global poverty, injustice and inequality. Just as Richard practised compassion in the face of challenge, Children in Crossfire pursues its vision with that same compassion.
