While engagement ring styles may not differ dramatically year to year and solitaire engagement rings continue to dominate the top spot, there are trends for retailers to be aware of if they want to satisfy todayβs customer base. Here are some of the top engagement trends we predict for 2025.
The timeless solitaire
The traditional classic round brilliant diamond is still the most popular style for engagement rings. Whether in a solitaire setting or a halo design, this is a simple ring with a minimal look that will never go out of style.
East-west placement
For a more modern look that is proving to be increasingly sought after, an east-west placement ring positions the centre stone horizontally across the ring band rather than vertically, making it appear more prominent and larger.
Toi et Moi
Toi et Moi, which means βyou and meβ in French, sees two stones set side by side to symbolise the union of two people. Having two central stones also allows for more variation in design, whether thatβs a mix of colours, shapes or stones.
Vintage rings
CMJ retailers have reported a rise in popularity of antique jewellery, and nowhere is this more prominent than in the engagement ring market. Your more environmentally conscious customer will appreciate the sustainable credentials of a recycled and repurposed diamond, while aesthetically, antique stones exude an old-world charm because they have been cut by hand. Antique engagement rings also bring with them a romance and history that many customers love.
Bespoke designs
Customers looking for a truly unique engagement ring may also be drawn to a bespoke design that they can create in collaboration with a local jeweller. The jeweller will work with them to understand what they are looking for, draw up the design and then create the finished product either in an in-store workshop or working with a manufacturer.
Lab-grown diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds have seen a rise in popularity over the past few years. The recent falling price means that they are particularly in demand from customers who want a larger stone and a bolder design.
