We recently spoke to Darrell Granton from ENAMEL Copenhagen to find out more about the business, the spring/summer 25 collection and plans for future releases.
ENAMEL Copenhagen is a Danish jewellery brand founded in 2012 by jewellery designer Marie Rantzau. The name is inspired by the durable material enamel, which has become a signature element in our designs, adding a touch of colour and character. Each piece is carefully crafted in 18ct gold-plated sterling silver and produced in collaboration with skilled jewellery workshops in Thailand. The team are dedicated to offering high-quality jewellery at accessible prices, combining elegance, vibrancy, and playfulness to create unique and timeless pieces.
What do you believe sets you apart from your competitors?
ENAMEL Copenhagen stands out by weaving joy into everything we do. From our designs to customer care and collaborations, joy is at the core of our brand. We believe that everyone should have the chance to experience the joy of beautiful jewellery, which is why our pieces are thoughtfully crafted to offer high-quality, yet affordable options.
Our jewellery combines colour, playfulness, and timeless elegance, creating a perfect harmony that brings joy to those who wear it. Each piece is designed to be versatile and personal, allowing you to mix and match to reflect your unique style. With vibrant colours, creative expressions, and sophisticated designs, ENAMEL Copenhagen jewellery is made for those who want to celebrate life’s special moments and cherish lasting memories – all while enjoying affordable luxury.
At ENAMEL Copenhagen, we’re committed to providing an uplifting experience for everyone we work with, and we strive to make our jewellery accessible to all, ensuring that the joy of our pieces can be part of your everyday life.
What are your best-selling products/collections with independent retailers?
We have a wide range of best-selling products and collections that have been very popular with retailers. However, our Lola collection is one of our signature collections. Featuring delicate chains adorned with colorful enamel beads, each of which is hand-painted, Lola brings a vibrant and playful touch to bracelets, necklaces, and earrings.
The collection’s versatility allows you to mix and match, creating unique, personalized styles. Each piece shares the same base design, but the hand-painted enamel beads give each item its own distinct character. From bold multi-coloured pieces like Lola Rainbow and Lola Dreamy to subtle single-colour options, Lola offers a perfect blend of fun and sophistication. Crafted from 18ct gold-plated sterling silver, Lola combines high-quality craftsmanship with a modern, playful design. Ideal for both everyday wear and special occasions, this collection is a timeless classic with a contemporary twist.
You have recently launched your spring/summer collection, what were the main inspirations behind the new collection?
The main inspiration behind Enamel Copenhagen’s spring/summer 25 Charm Collection is life itself, focusing on special moments, milestones, and the extraordinary people who enrich it. The collection celebrates the mysterious, fantastic, and joyful journey of life, offering a personal way to mark and cherish these moments through handcrafted, golden charms. Each piece is designed to highlight meaningful relationships and special individuals, creating a unique, personal story.
What are the stand out pieces in this collection that you would recommend for CMJ members?
Our spring/summer 25 collection includes jewellery editions, but at its heart, this collection is about showcasing your charm—both figuratively and literally! With our charm collection, you can express your personality and tell your own unique story.
We’ve designed 24 beautifully crafted, 18ct gold-plated sterling silver charms, each featuring a special lock system. This clever mechanism allows wearers to mix and match their charms effortlessly across our hoops, charm bracelets, and brand-new charm necklaces. Priced at £35 each, these charms offer a seamless and accessible way to curate a truly personal jewellery collection. Simplicity has been a key focus, making this concept easy for both retailers and consumers to navigate. Our thoughtfully designed point-of-sale materials set us apart, perfectly complementing our existing retail displays and enhancing the in-store experience.
A firm favourite among everyone so far? The Calm Turtle charm – symbolising balance, wisdom, and a gentle reminder to follow your own path with clarity and grace.
Are there any unique features or designs that disguinish this collection from previous ones?
At ENAMEL Copenhagen, we are always moving forward, ensuring each new collection feels fresh while staying true to our brand’s distinctive DNA. Every piece we create reflects our signature design language – playful, timeless, and full of joy.
When developing our charm collection, it was especially important for Marie, our founder and designer, to make sure each charm was instantly recognisable as ENAMEL Copenhagen. She infused them with the same joyful twist that defines all her designs, creating pieces that feel both new and familiar.
We also take inspiration from previous collections, evolving and expanding on beloved designs to keep our jewellery meaningful and exciting. While we’ve noticed a gentle shift in the market towards sterling silver, 18ct gold-plated sterling silver remains a key part of our collection and continues to be much loved by our customers.
What jewellery trends do you see on the horizon?
Looking ahead, I believe charms will be a major trend in the jewellery world over the next year. What’s truly important is that designers don’t just create a standard charm or a traditional charm bracelet but evolve the category, bringing fresh, meaningful, and innovative designs to the table. UK consumers respond incredibly well to jewellery with sentimental value – pieces that feel personal, symbolic, and tell a unique story. To stand out, charm collections need to go beyond the expected and offer something truly special.
Earwear will also remain a strong trend, particularly for the curated-ear customer. With 60% of our business coming from this category, we know just how much customers love to mix, match, and style their ear stacks in creative ways. At the same time, layering continues to be a key trend across necklaces, bracelets, and rings, and I don’t see this changing in the short term. Consumers love the ability to build and personalise their own look, making versatile, stackable pieces an essential part of any collection, mixing yellow gold and silver look.
In the short term, I do think price sensitivity will play a role, which is why I’m so pleased that our average selling price sits at around £52 at retail. It’s crucial for brands to have confidence in the price points that work for them, especially when jewellery is both a treasured gift and a joyful act of self-gifting. Striking that perfect balance ensures we remain accessible while still offering beautifully designed, high-quality pieces.
Are these trends something you will look to build into your future collections? What can we expect from these collections?
The autumn/winter collection has already been designed by Marie, and I’m sure we’ll get a sneak peek very soon! Of course, we’ll be incorporating the key trends I mentioned earlier—after all, we are a reactive and agile, design-led business. We will also be expanding our ‘Lola Love’ collection with new concepts which I cannot wait to share.
I anticipate we’ll see exciting new charms as we continue to explore this growing category, but let me be clear: we are a jewellery brand, and our focus is on bringing out beautifully joyful designs for the first drop of autumn/winter 2025. And, of course, there’s Celebration – our special Christmas collection launching in October, just in time for the festive season!
What sorts of retailer partners are you looking to work with?
At ENAMEL Copenhagen, we’re proud to work with a wonderful mix of retailers across Europe and here in the UK & Ireland. We’re delighted to be showcased in Selfridges, John Lewis, and Fenwick, but we also have a thriving presence among independent jewellers and concept stores—especially those who have embraced the evolution of retail. Many of these jewellers offer exciting in-store experiences like welding and piercing, which create a buzz and help drive strong sales within our price category.
Our versatility is one of our greatest strengths. In some locations, we sit beautifully alongside Pandora, Nomination, and Swarovski, while in others, we compliment a more boutique, Liberty-style aesthetic. Ultimately, what matters most to us is building joyful, collaborative partnerships, where we support each other’s success.
We may be a small company, but we dream big. Our digital assets are ahead of the curve, giving our retail partners a real edge online. In-store, our visual identity and product offering create a beautiful, engaging experience for customers.
Beyond that, we actively support our partners with stock management, marketing investment, and social media activity—all designed to drive footfall and establish ENAMEL Copenhagen as a top-selling brand. We’ve already seen fantastic success stories where our approach has made a real difference, and we can’t wait to create more!
If retailers decide to work with you, do you offer marketing, such as images and campaigns they can promote?
Of course, these are the basics—fundamentals that, if I’m honest, I don’t think some brands have quite nailed. But what sets us apart is our incredible team.
I have the privilege of working alongside Jo Mullane, who looks after the South of the UK. Many in the industry will already know her—she’s an absolute powerhouse and an even better human being. Then, at our Copenhagen head office, we have a fantastic team of 20 colleagues driving the brand forward.
Here in the UK, we’re working with a dedicated PR agency to ensure our voice is heard in all the right places. And last but certainly not least, we have Sofie, our brilliant Marketing Assistant. She’s originally from our motherland in Copenhagen but is now living in London while studying fashion marketing—bringing fresh, creative energy to everything we do. With this team, I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead for ENAMEL Copenhagen.
Why did you join the CMJ and what do you think the benefits of joining the CMJ are?
Before joining ENAMEL Copenhagen in May 2024, I hadn’t worked directly with the CMJ, but I always knew it was a community I wanted to be part of. I firmly believe in the power of collaboration—there’s real strength in working together—and CMJ offers exactly that: a UK and Ireland-specific buying group where we can support one another and grow our businesses in what continues to be an ever-evolving retail landscape.
One of the real highlights for us was our first CMJ Buying Group Trade Meeting, where we had the opportunity to present our brand and connect with the members. We loved every moment of it and are already looking forward to returning to showcase our Autumn/Winter collections.
I’d also like to extend a huge thank you to Beth, Sequoia, Jo, and Patrick for their unwavering support over the past six months. Their leadership, passion, and clear vision for CMJ make it such an exciting and inspiring network to be part of, and I can’t wait to continue working with them for many years to come.
Fashion jewellery is a vital category for so many retailers across the UK, and I truly believe that welcoming brands with a distinct identity, a drive to succeed, and a shared commitment to spreading joy is what makes our partnerships so special. I would wholeheartedly recommend CMJ to other suppliers, but as Patrick often says, you get out what you put in. And for me, that couldn’t be more true—not just within CMJ, but in every relationship we build with our retail partners.
