Can you give a brief background to Goodman Bros.

In 2014, Goodman Bros. The Service Brand Company was founded in the United Kingdom as the exclusive distributor of Connoisseurs to the UK and Irish markets, and master distributor to the European market. In 2016, we formed a partnership with Lox, and a few years later, we added Inverness to our portfolio. As of today, we have added Angel Whisperer and Save Brave to our list as well as creating our own brand, Perma Jewel which focuses on industry leading permanent jewellery services such as distribution, stock holding, new product design and customer support.

What are the different products/services you offer to our retail members?

The key word in this question is SERVICE – this is what Goodman Bros is proud to offer. Known as the service brand company we specialise in the added value sales and footfall drivers. We look for products and brands that ideally keep the consumer in the stores vs just shopping from their living room on a mobile device. You cannot have your ears-pierced online nor can you have a bracelet welded together.

What do you believe sets you apart from your competitors?

As part of our SERVICE ethos, we strive to ensure that we are a ‘1 stop shop’ for our retail partners across all our products. We understand that time is a precious commodity, our mission is to make our partners experience quick, easy and complete. We worry about the little things, the end result for us is the prize and believe it is our responsibility to aide all sell through by providing a vast array of assets & incentives.

No one is quite setup like us in the UK, we offer full chain of custody tracking for our permanent jewellery fine metals, operate our own warehouse, provide 360-degree marketing support to all of our partners, as well as operating and developing our very first own brand, Perma Jewel – an all in one solution for our retail customers and partners.

What are the benefits of a CMJ member switching to using products by Goodman Bros?

Products from Goodman Bros are footfall drivers, more and more consumers are choosing to shop online and we find our retail partners are looking for ways to keep customers coming in to store. We offer services that cannot be carried out online thus keeping those customers coming back time and time again. One often overlooked benefit is our dedicated account managers on all accounts regardless of size. With extensive product knowledge to tailor the best offering to suit an individual business. As a company we are heavily invested on providing true value to our CMJ customers as well as providing key insights for SKU’s across the board.

 Why is so important for retailers to take care of their jewellery and watches?

Jewellery and watch care are an essential part of maintenance and upkeep. We understand that many of our retail partners offer an annual/ 6 monthly jewellery and watch service. Our product is not to detract from this but rather to add value to this. Equating this to your vehicle – our cars require services at least once a year. Yet they need to be cleaned and maintained throughout to ensure they are running well. Why would the same not apply to some of our most precious items like watches and jewellery.

The dirtier rings get for example, the higher chance that precious stones could fall out. Dirt under the setting can eventually dislodge them, not to mention completely dull down the true look & fire of the stones. Any object touching the skin will have come into contact with oils, perspiration and day to day dirt. This is picked up from our basic daily activities. You’ll brush your teeth, wash your clothes and shower every day – but consumers & retailers alike don’t think of caring for items of jewellery from one month to the next.

For watches, it’s about cleanliness – we have detailed reports showing just how much bacteria can be found in wrist-watch straps & cases and let’s just say it’s… quite dirty in there! Most of us would be horrified to know how much bacteria there is after just one week never mind after a few months. Essential care is something that is of huge benefit to the consumer and an easy add on sale to the retailer. How many rings are sold in a store every month? Consider the impact on turnover had an essential care item been added to these sales.

If retailers need assistance how easy is it to get help?

We have a dedicated team available on the road and in the office. Contact is available through many channels to suit the needs of each of our partners. WhatsApp, Telephone & email are all available making our customers our number one priority. For any ordering or product information out of office hours we have a fully comprehensive B2B system with livestock detail.

What sorts of retailer partners are you looking to work with?

The optimal word here is ‘PARTNER’ yes, we are a supplier however as mentioned earlier we want to work with our retailers to ensure they achieve the very best results for their business. Our ideal retail partner is one that works with us to enable us to grow the business together, not just for one order but year on year – we have so many years of experience in the industry, we’re always looking at updated ways to develop unique sell through strategies. Open and honest conversations about goals and sell through information provides a better understanding of where our partners are and where they want to be.

What do you have planned for the next 12 months?

Over the next 12 months we will continue to do what we do best, offer valuable service to the trade. We are constantly striving to achieve new levels of service by adding new systems and increasing productivity to ensure our partners can access their stock quicker than ever.

Sustainability is a big focus for us. We have changed our warehouse and packaging processes to be more environmentally friendly and will continue this process going forward.

We keep our fingers on the pulse and quickly identify gaps in the market place that can best serve our retail partners.
