Wongs gets into the groove as Eurovision hits Liverpool

Wongs Jewellers has unveiled a new window display to celebrate the upcoming Eurovision celebrations, which are being held in Liverpool.

Wongs Jewellers, founded in 1979 by Brian and Susan Wong, has always been at the heart of the Liverpool community. Managing director Peter Wong said: “As a city we’re delighted to host Eurovision on behalf of Ukraine. Liverpool is the perfect backdrop and our Whitechapel store truly is a cultural landmark – the current store location used to be called Hesseys, which is where infamous band The Beatles bought their first guitars!”

Wongs has designed a creative Summer of Love campaign, which features vinyl records and an array of glittered musical instruments, installed by CMJ supplier Icatcha Display. The display also includes a karaoke booth, featuring live microphones and an amp that allows the songs to be heard from outside the store. Customers get to pick their own song to sing, which is proving popular with newly engaged couples – love truly is in the air in Liverpool. Customers and members of the public alike can book a slot online.

Wongs is collecting donations after the sing-a-long and the money raised will be donated to a Ukrainian charity.

Commercial director Cynthia Cartwright said: “There’s such a buzz in the city at the moment with both Eurovision and the Coronation coming up. We wanted to capture the essence of Eurovision and create a fun, unique space in which our customers and members of our community can come in, have fun and help raise a bit of money for Ukraine. We’re delighted the campaign has been picked up by national news too so it’s great for the business – we will be featured on both BBC and ITV.”

The Wongs Karaoke Booth will be up and running until the end of May.
