Training

Training

Besides our own Mastercut Diamond sales training programme and a series of industry seminars at our annual AGM meetings, further training initiatives are currently being developed alongside our highly successful Best Practice Bus Tours.

Networking and training are key to the success of the Company of Master Jewellers. Combining both, our best practice bus tours are an innovative way for our members to learn from each other's success.

The Best Practice Bus Tour was devised with the aim of helping retailers fight the economic downturn and to learn how to achieve more successful strategic results. This spirit of co-operation and learning best practice from one's peers has to be one of the great strengths and advantages of being a member of The Company of Master Jewellers.

For me, the bus tour was a unique opportunity to visit other members and get an insight into how they run their shops. To be able to ask any questions and see the day to day running of another business with hopefully similar aims and aspirations was amazing. We all face the same challenges and getting a different perspective on those challenges gives an instant advantage to the visitor to bring that benefit to their own business. In exchange the two-way discussion with the shop being visited gives a benefit in return. Anyone who does not take advantage of this opportunity is missing a major chance to improve their business and competitive edge in the high street today.

I'm always amazed at the welcome we receive from all the participating stores and the information they are prepared to share – it certainly gives you a sense of community within The Company of Master Jewellers. Hopefully they will benefit from our feedback, as much as we benefited from viewing their stores. To gain an insight into the detailed operational workings of seven stores over two days is an invaluable experience which was further heightened by our ability to network that experience with 18 like-minded jewellers.
