IRV valuations

Are you looking for an honest valuation of your jewellery for insurance purposes or for probate? Do you need a valuation for a private sale or are you simply interested in the value of a particular item of jewellery?

There are many reasons why you may need a jewellery valuer, and you can place your trust in an Institute Registered Valuer from the National Association of Goldsmiths (NAG). The NAG's Institute of Registered Valuers (HYPERLINK – open new window) is the UK's leading association of jewellery valuers and celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2012.

All IRVs, numbering around 160 throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, have proved their expertise to their peers, with formal qualifications and substantial experience within the industry.

Many CMJ jewellers can provide an accessible IRV valuation service in-store, where a member of the team can expertly assess and value your items and provide a detailed written valuation with images. This means that your precious jewellery remains on the premises and you can ask the valuer any questions you may have about the piece.

Whatever type of valuation is requested, your valuer will provide you with a fully researched document. The fee is usually based on a per-item charge or a time-based fee, however some may still charge based upon a percentage of the value. Post-loss assessments are usually charged on a fixed fee or according to the time spent on them for more substantial cases. Your valuer will be happy to discuss their fees with you.
