Jo Kelsey, jewellery designer and owner of Originals Jewellers & Gallery on Odiham High Street, Hampshire, is currently celebrating two major achievements; Hot 100 listing & CMJ membership!
Earlier this month Kelsey’s business, Originals Jewellers in Odiham, joined the Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) as a retail member. Kelsey commented: “I have been working in the industry for 30 years and although I know a few of the local jewellers, I have always felt isolated and on the fringes of the industry. I think that being a member of a collective of like-minded independent retailers will only help our ultimate goal of keeping the high street alive.”
Kelsey has also been recognised as one of the most innovative and dynamic jewellery retailers in Britain by Professional Jeweller magazine. On September 5th, Jo and the team at Originals joined over 450 industry professionals at a glamourous garden party at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens where this year’s hot list was revealed.
On her recent Hot 100 listing, Jo comments: “Originals has been part of the local community for 28 years, over which time we have worked really hard to maintain our reputation for exceptional handmade jewellery and unusual gifts.
“To be listed alongside some of the best jewellery retailers in the UK is a great honour for myself and our dedicated team, whose energy and enthusiasm have helped Originals to remain the go-to place for unusual pieces of high-quality handmade jewellery.”
After spending two years at the prestigious Sir John Cass Faculty of Arts in London, Jo began her jewellery business at the age of 20, repairing rings and chains for family and friends from her workbench in an upstairs bedroom at her parents’ house. She opened her first shop at Monks Cottage on Odiham’s picturesque High Street in 1989. Since then, the business has grown and moved twice within the village; it can now be found at 99 High Street Odiham.
The Company of Master Jewellers would like to congratulate Jo Kelsey on her recent achievements!
