Luxury pearl brand Yoko London has announced Camille Combremont as the winner of its first ever collaboration with art and design university HEAD - Genève. Known for challenging the conventions of traditional jewellery and celebrating the allure of pearls, Yoko London joined forces with HEAD Genéve on “Young Pearls”, an annual design project with the aim of transforming the classic and traditional pearl into something innovative and contemporary.
Combremont’s winning submission features a contemporary linking design which will form the basis of a capsule collection from Yoko London. Michael Hakimian CEO of the brand, said: ”At Yoko London we keep innovation at the heart of all of our jewellery and so we are delighted to be working with HEAD - Genève on this design competition and to be supporting the next generation of fine pearl jewellery makers, like Camille”.
Renowned for working with some of the finest and rarest pearls in the world, Yoko London gave 2nd year students of HEAD - Genève the opportunity to create three designs, with the final prototype crafted using pearls generously provided by the brand. Students were invited to revisit classics from a fresh perspective and were tasked with performing market research, creating a mood board and ultimately developing a final prototype with colour renderings.
The winning design was chosen by a panel comprising Michael Hakimian, Melanie Georgacopoulos (jewellery designer), Fabrice Schaefer (professor at HEAD Geneve) and Tiffany Baehler (designer and professor at HEAD Genève) on the 17th April 2018 and will be showcased at Gem Genève in May 2018.
