French police have arrested three men and are on the hunt for two more following a jewellery heist at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, in which a reported €4 million worth of jewellery was stolen.
According to authorities a gang of five armed robbers stormed the Hotel at around 6:30pm local time on Wednesday evening and smashed display cases in a jewellery shop inside the building.
The gang escaped from the hotel on scooters but quickly ran into a police patrol, with officers managing to arrest three of the suspects, but two managed to flee the scene. The Place Vendome was shut down as the police setup a security perimeter in the hunt for the remaining two suspects.
Reports are unsure whether any of the stolen goods have been recovered when the suspected robbers were arrested.
