Ideally, you will already have proved that retail customer service is an area to which your career is well suited. You appreciate the importance of store standards, both in respect of the presentation of merchandise, and your ability to deliver customer delight on the shop floor.
The trade discipline in which your skills have been developed is not the crucial issue – it may have been luxury/premium products, fashion apparel, or indeed food service/hospitality – what is vital is your appreciation of the importance of providing excellent service, your knowledge of your products, and your ability to sell, inspiring in your customers the confidence to keep coming back for more.
Retailing enables you to express your personality, underpinned at every moment by politeness, administrative efficiency and enthusiasm. Sales training is provided in-house as well as by eager brand suppliers, and where appropriate, third party specialist consultants are brought in to ensure maximum operating efficiency for the benefit of all parties.
Once successfully engaged and confirmed in the role, JACOBS will support you in achieving external industry-recognised qualifications through a series of courses run by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF JEWELLERS. After many months of self-directed study, this will culminate in the achievement of JET 1 and JET 2 qualifications, making you a recognised Professional Jeweller.
From there, your career and contribution will continue to develop; perhaps you will specialise in a particular area of stock and attain greater accountability for your section. Sales-wise, you will enjoy ever higher levels of success, based upon your proven and accredited market expertise.
